Parent & Youth Resource Hotline

Bullying negatively effects the lives of bullies, targets, and bystanders.  Bullying prevention is critical issue for schools across the country.

The school district has a new webpage commited to addressing bullying. This site provides information and the ability to report bullying.

The Kansas Children's Service League has implemented a new bullying prevention hotline.  This is an anonymous 24 hour line that youth, parents, and professionals can call to receive support and resources to deal with bullying situations.  The line can be reached by phone at 1-800-332-6378 or 1-800-CHILDREN and by email or text message to 1800children@kcsl.org.

Counseling Groups are an opportunity for students to help each other deal with common issues they might be struggling with.  Counseling games may be played that teach life skills such as managing anger, interacting with others, coping with loss, being assertive, and finding ways to communicate appropriately.  Groups meet about once every 2 weeks during the school day.  Listed below are some of the groups that are offered.  If you are interested in joining a group (or referring your student) please contact the school counselor.

  • Do you feel like your anger is out of control? In this group you will learn the dynamics of anger, what pushes your buttons, and how to manage your anger in more appropriate ways.

  • Have you recently felt sad or alone in your personal struggles?  This group will provide a support network of students struggling to deal with different aspects of life.

  • Is your family experiencing a separation or divorce?  Or do you have a new stepparent or living arrangement?  This group will provide ideas & support for coping with family changes.

  • This group will focus on interpersonal relationships including peer pressure, dealing with conflicts, social group dynamics, role models, and self-image.  This group will also explore ways to effectively communicate with one another.

  • This group is for students who have experienced the death of a loved one.  Join other students in open discussions to learn how to cope with the feelings surrounding a death

  • Do you feel overwhelmed with the hustle and bustle of everyday life?  Is homework, your friends/family, or after school activities getting the best of you?  Gather support from peers and learn healthy stress management skills to get you through difficult times.
